you can do that but only 720p because the GPU dont allow.you can play a hd game and play a video and browse the web all in the sametime.if you never use bf nokia n900 than dont talk

When is playbook launch and when is n900launch?n900 can run youtube video in the background which is REAL TIME multitasking.it does matter which kernel it use,its how the brand make use of it.you can play games in the background.symbian which use microkernel cant run videos in the background because nokia does not want it.nokia n900 can do real time processing,mulit treadking and all you mention.you should praise it as it can do it without microkernel.

Running apps all in "Real Time"" side by side is called True multitasking. Only RIM BlackBerry has proved that because the BlackBerry PlayBook operating system is a real time POSIX operating system based on QNX Neutrino RTOS. QNX is a real time operating system that is designed to do real time processing, multi threading, multi core processing. Linux is a monolithic kernel while QNX is a microkernel. Plus the N900 hardware specs are terrible compared to dual core 1GB BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet.

Be serious. Suggesting to play simultaneously a 1080p video, run a HD game, and do other things at the same time on a single-core 600 MHz CPU and 256 MB RAM is..... SILLY. And it has nothing to do with multitasking capabilities, it simply takes a faster processor and more operating memory. Be sure that the N900 (and its successor the N9) can do a lot of things simultaneously, and not just play music. Maemo/MeeGo is simply Linux - are you trying to say that Linux isn't a multitasking OS?

I don't think that is TRUE multi tasking. Why? Because you didn't prove anything to run multi apps simultaneously in real-time. Any device can play music in the background but that's not TRUE multi tasking. Only RIM BlackBerry PlayBook can do TRUE multi tasking. Why? Because it runs a "REAL-TIME OPERATING SYSTEM" based on QNX Neutrino RTOS. Try playing a YouTube video, run a HD console like game, record a 1080p video and update Facebook status all simultaneously in real-time with out pause.
